Dr Enrico Bugiardini

Clinical Research Fellow

Dr Enrico Bugiardini completed his training in medicine and neurology at the University of Bologna and Milan (Italy). During his Neurology Residency Training Program he developed a specific interest for neuromuscular diseases and he did internships at leading international neuromuscular centres as the University of Rochester (NY) and the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases (London).

In June 2015 he started to work as a Clinical Research Associate at the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases (London). His activity is focused on Mitochondrial Diseases and includes direct involvement in the mitochondrial service’s clinical activities and recruitment of patients for on-going research projects.

He also started a PhD in Mitochondrial Diseases at the UCL Institute of Neurology in December 2015. His research focuses on improving understanding of the genetic basis of Mitochondrial Diseases through the identification and investigation of new disease-causing genes or new clinical manifestations of known genes.
