Professor Henry Houlden

Consultant and Professor of Clinical Neurology and Neurogenetics

Professor Henry Houlden is a Professor in Clinical Neurology & Clinical lead of the Neurogenetics Laboratory and Clinical Service. He co-leads for the Genomics England Clinical Interpretation Partnership (GeCIP) and sits on the Genomics England committee representing rare diseases. He leads an active research programme and has published 300+ peer reviewed original research papers including Nature, AJHG and Brain. He has raised over £2m external research funding in the last four years in genetic and clinical research including ataxia, neuromuscular disease, brain channelopathies and Mitochondrial Disease. His laboratory and clinical service are also active in diagnosing rare neurological disorders through next generation sequencing in patients and families: h.houlden@ucl.ac.uk
