Dr Matthew J Daniels

Matthew joined the specialist register as a cardiologist in 2013 and is based within the Oxford University Inherited Cardiac Conditions service. He is a member of the Association of Inherited Cardiac Conditions, and the Cardiovascular sub-domain of the Genomes England Clinical Interpretation Panel. He completed the Cambridge University MB/PhD program in 2004, where his basic research interest was live cell imaging applied to cancer leading to a PhD studying how cells divide. He then went on to complete medical training and sub-specialisation in cardiology via successive Clinical Lecturer posts at the University of Cambridge (Metabolic Medicine), and more recently University of Oxford (Cardiology). His current program of research funded by the Wellcome Trust enables activity to determine the cellular basis of inherited disease using a combination of heart muscle made in the lab, and improved live cell imaging technologies that resolve events occurring within a single heart beat.
