Claire qualified as a Speech & Language Therapist in 1994 from Manchester Metropolitan University.  Claire has always had an interest in working with Children with SEN; working initially in a Special school in Manchester and then London. In 2004 she moved to working with babies and children under 4yrs attending the Child Development Centre based at St Mary’s Hospital.  During her time there she was able to develop her skills on the children’s wards in Acute Paediatric Dysphagia which led to a job at The Royal London Hospital for almost 9 years in their tertiary level Children’s Hospital.  Claire has worked across many specialities including Neurology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, ENT, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Cardiology and Paediatric Critical Care to become a Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist in Dysphagia and Acquired Communication Difficulties.  Claire is now the Acute Paediatric Clinical SLT Lead at Oxford Children’s Hospital where she has worked for over 6 years and developed close links with the Mitochondrial Service.  She was delighted to be asked to join the team in February 2019.  Claire hopes her years of expertise will enable her to support both children and adults with Mitochondrial Disorders who attend the Oxford Centre.
